I'm sorry but I really need to write this down before I forget.
So today jh and I were talking about random stuff, and he said he has nothing to impress interviewers during job interviews. And he said, "Can I bring you along?".
o^^o
Such a silly boy.

Taiwan 2013 - Day 1 (Taichung Fengjia Night Market)
Hello! I'm gonna attempt to blog about my entire Taiwan trip because I think Jh and I spent a lot of time researching and reading a lot of blogs to find out where and how to go, so it would be more worth it if we share it with those who are travelling to Taiwan in the future. :)
Taiwan is really huge and there are so many places that I wanted to go! Too bad we only booked a 6 days trip (from 13 May to 18 May) but nonetheless, we went to many places, especially those that I really wanted to visit!
On the first day (13 May 2013), we took a really early flight at 7+am and reached Taoyuan Airport Terminal 1 at 12pm. We bought food from Hi-Life and a prepaid sim card from Chunghwa Telecom which has unlimited internet access for 7 days. The sim card costs NT$500 and the coverage is really good, but it's quite difficult to skype properly.
After that, we went to the bus area (客運搭車處) and bought bus tickets under UBus to go to Taichung. Each bus ticket costs NT$240. The bus was really comfy and clean, and there are individual speakers on each seat so you can choose to watch the movie that is playing on the bus or do your own things without being distracted. So cool. The bus driver will also announce the name of the stop so you don't have to worry about alighting at the wrong stop!
We alighted at “台中朝馬站” after a 2 hours ride and took a cab to our hostel, J&I Home (J&I逢甲美宿館) which took about 10 minutes and costed about NT$100. There are cabs at that station already so you don't have hail a cab. So convenient! :)
J&I Home is really convenient as it is just a few minutes walk away from Fengjia Night Market, and it's cosy with good security in a quiet alley near a housing estate. The only downside is that the room is quite small and there's not a lot of space for us to walk around after opening both our luggage. However, they have a lot of things in the room like hairdryer, kettle, teabags, weighing machine, TV and even a computer but it's old and slow haha. We chose the green room and it only costs about NT$1,100 per night on weekdays so I think it's a good choice for a night stay. :) Btw, some places in Taiwan are still practicing the habit of not flushing down the toilet paper but instead throw them in the bin next to the toilet bowl. J&I is one of them so be careful not to choke the toilet bowl!
After settling down, it was about 4+pm so we decided to go to Fengjia Night Market. I wanted to go there badly cos my favourite Taiwan brands (Queenshop and Nikiyo) are there! :) However, we didn't think that the night market will only be operating in the evening since the shops that I wanted to visit open at 3.30pm and it was such a bad experience for us! There were scooters and cars everywhere on the streets and alleys where we buy food and clothes so it was very dangerous and we couldn't really stop at a corner to enjoy our food. :( Thank goodness the vehicles in the night market were all gone by around 7+pm.
Anyway, we ate a lot there!! I like how we can choose different flavours for everything that we eat, so spoilt for choice! ^^ I'm very conservative when it comes to food so we always ordered seaweed flavour for everything that we ate haha, but it's really a safe choice! I think our favourite was the clams! It's a small store near Fengjia University and the salesgirl was really loud and vocal which caught our attention. The clams were really huge and fresh that we ordered one more box before heading back to our hotel. I missed it so much now!!! :(
Oh, remember to just order the smallest serving and just one serving to share because there's a lot of food to try there. And be careful while buying freshly cut fruits because some stalls do not display the prices and I heard stories of people paying up to SGD$70. :/ Just go for those with prices written! The fruits are really very fresh, sweet and cheap! :)
As for clothes, I didn't buy a lot during the entire trip in Taiwan, probably about 6 tops and 3 skirts for myself. Most of them were from Queenshop and Nikiyo haha. I bought a bag from PG Mall at Fengjia for my mum too. There are a lot of clothes there and are quite cheap, around SGD$12-25 but I find that they are a little too feminine or small or short for me. :/ Nikiyo is located at the "cooler" street of Fengjia with all the more classy and expensive shops selling Korea-imported clothes.
We went back to our hostel at around 10+pm and wanted to buy travel-sized shampoo and soap from the convenience stores nearby but all of them only sold the regular-sized ones. :( And I realised the streets around my hostel which is situated among the housing estates were really quiet by then. I really like staying in hostels because it's right where the locals live and you can experience their lifestyle. The next morning at around 7+am, little kids carrying backpacks were strolling to school outside our hostel. So cute. :)
Okay, that's all for Day 1! The next day we went to Cingjing Farm and stayed overnight there. Will blog about it in the next post. :)
Feel free to ask me anything! :) Tata!

Fried squid! Very nice!! We chose seaweed flavour! |
Me and squid! |
![]() |
Pepper Meat Ball (胡椒饼) which was not nice :/ Maybe we chose the wrong store instead of the famous one. |
![]() |
葱油饼 which we thought was the same as 葱抓饼 that a lot of people recommend. This tastes like harder and oilier version of roti prata? We chose seaweed flavour again haha. |
![]() |
Oysters! We got the smallest serving and it's so sad to see one of them being so tiny. :( Anyway you can add the flavouring yourself and we chose lemon juice and garlic sauce. :) |

Scallop in pretty scallop shell. Not sure what's inside but it tasted like takoyaki. There were tiny bits of scallop meat inside. |

OUR FAVOURITE CLAMS!!!! From 海边小屋! Really very fresh and juicy ahhh!! We bought the original flavour and another one with garlic. JH prefers the original one while I prefer the garlic one :) |

Cheap and fresh fruits! |
I love night markets cos the signboards are all so pretty with lights! |

Ice cream puff which was not very nice. The puff was tasteless :( |

Lazy People Prawns/懒人虾 is really for lazy people like me who don't like to peel prawn shells haha. We chose the spicy flavour for this and it's quite nice and crunchy. |
As for clothes, I didn't buy a lot during the entire trip in Taiwan, probably about 6 tops and 3 skirts for myself. Most of them were from Queenshop and Nikiyo haha. MY FAVOURITE!!! So excited to be inside!! ^^ |

22 Things You Need To Do While You Have The Chance
22. Start a new project simply to test your abilities and see what you might not have yet learned about yourself. Work seriously on paintings, submit articles, take up an instrument, join a dance class. Be a better version of yourself. Regardless of the kind of success you might see, you will at least have become the kind of person who isn’t afraid to try things. From: http://thoughtcatalog.com/2013/22-things-you-need-to-do-while-you-have-the-chance/

black hole
today is the day when everything is just not right. you regret all your choices and decisions. you feel embarrassed about your past, your failures and mistakes; you feel uncertain about your bleak future. you despise yourself for who you are, the number of people whom you have disappointed, the number of people you have wasted your heart on, the number of people who became strangers, the number of people who didn't know exactly who you are. you start to question your existence on earth.
